Gunhild Westhagen Magnor studied film and vido production at Lillehammer Collage and The Surrey Institute of Art and Design in England. She has worked as a freelance documentary director and DOP for 25 years. Her most recent feature documentary, Budding Humans, won the prize for best Norwegian Documentary in 2022 and gained national and international success.

Previous works include numerous audience favourites, such as the doc series: Thaifjord 1 & 2, (Winner: Gullruten 2008,) Karanba, (nominated for Best Documentary Series 2011) single docs: Rabbit King (2007 NRK/Krakow Int. Film Festival) and Wings under Water (2005 NRK). She has shot the feature doc The Truth Hunter (2006), was nominated for Best Cinematography for Songs from the Street. At the moment she is in postproduction of a new documentay film and developing her first feature fiction film.
